Share your stories
New York City is alive. Every moment could just as easily be made up by the abstract imagination of a troubled two-year-old child. It’s crazy out there…and it’s beautiful, and it’s dirty, and it’s lively. It’s never boring, if you’re looking up.
Tell us the stories that you have of this amazing city. Tell us the romantic tales, and great heartbreaks. Tell us the scary moments, and the psychedelic landscapes. Describe to us the experience of train delays without AC in the dead of a heat wave, or the chill in your bones in the winter, as you sit homeless in the arc of the subway.
We want to hear from all perspectives, and we hope you’ll share yours, from funny conversations to urban folklore.
The Basics
Writers may enter any style of writing they wish that relates to the current theme. Please keep all writing under 1500 words. If you would like to include your own photographs or artwork, to accompany your writing, you may do so. (For reference, one page of NYC English will hold slightly under 200 words, so for example, a 500-word piece would be 3 pages, including the title and author’s credits.)
